Brazil 2006

Last year Nate and I had the amazing opportunity to travel down to Brazil, and take Christmas gifts to needy children. Our church works with World Renewal , a missions organization. They have a sponsor-a-child program called Living Stones. The kids get an education (most don't receive public education as the schools are overcrowded), a meal each day and a lot of hope. We wanted to add to that and decided to take them Christmas presents. We collected the gifts from our community and packed them in our suitcases. It was so amazing seeing the faces of all of the children when they opened their gifts, and how appreciative they were. Many of these children live in very poor conditions, so getting a small gift is a big deal to them. It's so amazing how these kids touched our lives (when we thought we were going to touch theirs) and really reminded us Christmas is all about. We were truly blessed more by giving than receiving =)

So, this year, we gathered gifts again for the children, but we weren't going to be able to make the trip ourselves. Unfortunately there weren't enough people to take the gifts down, as the only way to get them there is in your personal luggage. So, Nate felt led to take a quick trip (well, 30 hrs. each way) just to take some extra gifts. Thanks to the generous support of E-gineering , he was able to go. He spent a couple of nights and returned safely. I'm so proud of him for following his heart, and I know that many more children were able to celebrate Christmas because of his willingness. I'm definitely married to the best man ever! So, here our a few pics from his quick trip. Also, we've included a link to the photos from last year as well.

Here is a link to the photos from last year.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas.
